Frequently Asked Questions

What is an automated spray booth?
A contactless spray tan booth is an automated tanning system designed to provide a quick and hygienic spray tan experience without direct contact with another person. Here's how it works:
- Private Room: Step into a private booth, ensuring personal space and privacy.
- Automated Process: The booth uses sensors to detect the client's height and adjust the tanning process accordingly. It guides the client into specific positions to ensure full-body coverage.
- Heated Environment: The booth is heated for comfort, which is especially beneficial during colder seasons, keeping the client warm throughout the session.
- Self-Cleaning: After each use, the booth automatically cleans itself, ensuring it is sanitised and ready for the next client.
This setup provides a convenient, contact-free, and consistent tanning experience.
How do I select a tan?
To select your tan in the contactless spray tan booth, follow these steps:
1. Tan Menu: In the tanning room, you'll find a tan menu with 4 colour options and 3 different depths for each. This allows you to customize your tan based on your preferences, whether you want a subtle glow or a deep bronzed look.
2. Choose a Colour: The 4 colour options range from lighter to darker shades, allowing you to pick one that complements your natural skin tone or desired result.
3. Select the Depth: Each colour option comes with 3 levels of depth—light, medium, or dark. You can choose the intensity of your tan based on how noticeable you want it to be.
4. Ask for Help: If you're unsure which colour or depth is best for your skin tone, you can contact the staff for personalised recommendations.
This process ensures a customized, even tan that suits your specific needs and preferences.
How long do I leave my tan on before showering?
After your spray tan session, follow these guidelines for the best results:
1. Standard Tan: For a regular spray tan, it's recommended to leave it on for 6-8 hours before showering. If you prefer a darker tan, you can leave it on overnight.
- Tip: Wash your hands and face about 30 minutes after your session to ensure a natural blend in those areas.
2. Rapid Tan: If you opt for the rapid tanning solution, you'll need to shower 2-3 hours after your session, depending on how deep you want the tan to be.
These timeframes allow the tanning solution to fully develop on your skin for an even, long-lasting tan.
Will swimming affect my tan?
Swimming in chlorinated water or salt water can fade the spray tanning results, cause possible streaking and diminish the length of your tan. However, normal activities such as bathing, showering or physical activities will not affect the quality of the tan.
Will my skin look orange?
No. The advanced technology currently used in sunless tanning solutions is designed to ensure a natural, bronze tan.
Will the spraytan stain my clothing?
No, the sunless spray tanning solution which includes a cosmetic bronzer is water soluble and will be removed after the next wash in cold water. However, in some instances, the DHA in the tanning solution may permanently stain undergarments worn during the spray session.
Pre Tan
Exfoliating before your contactless spray tan is highly recommended. This helps to soften and smooth the surface of your skin, allowing for an even and longer-lasting tan application. Here's what to do:
- Exfoliate: Use a body scrub or exfoliating mitt to gently remove dead skin cells. This ensures a smoother canvas for the tan to adhere to.
- Shave or Wax: Make sure to shave or wax at least 24 hours before your tanning session to avoid irritation or patchy spots.
- Hot Tip: After exfoliating, finish your shower with a cold rinse. This helps to close your pores, giving you a smoother and more flawless tan.
These steps will help you achieve the best possible results from your spray tan.
Barrier Cream
Always apply barrier cream to areas like your palms, back of hands, elbows, knees, back of ankles, and feet before your spray tan. These areas tend to be drier and absorb more tan, so the cream helps prevent them from becoming too dark, ensuring a natural-looking result.
- Barrier Cream: Protects dry areas from absorbing excess tan.
- Hot Tip: Use the provided wipes in the salon to remove any deodorant from under your arms before tanning. Deodorant can react with the tanning solution, leading to unwanted green staining.
By following these tips, you’ll avoid streaks and uneven colouring, ensuring a smooth, natural tan.
Pat Dry
After your spray tan, always pat dry with a towel following a shower. Avoid rubbing vigorously, as this can cause your tan to fade faster, especially after a hot shower when your pores are open and your skin is more sensitive.
- Pat Dry: Gently pat your skin with a towel to prevent premature fading of your tan.
Choose a lukewarm shower instead of a hot one to help extend the life of your tan.
This gentle approach will help maintain a smooth, long-lasting tan.
